The Ebor Handicap

The Sky Bet Ebor Handicap Stakes is a heritage handicap for horses aged four or older. The race is run over a distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs and is the feature race on the closing day of the Ebor Festival.

2024 Ebor Handicap Preview

Only two horses have been priced under 10/1 ahead of the UK’s richest handicap flat race. These are Epic Poet and Queenstown.

The former has won just once in his career, and placed as many times since 2022. The latter is stronger candidate, having taken two second places in Irish pattern races this season, and offers genuine value at his price of 8/1.

Ziggy is the most consistent horse in the field. He hasn’t finished outside the top three once this year and placed in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. He’s never run over 1 mile 6 furlongs, but will have no issues with the 9-5 weight he’s been assigned and at 18/1 offers great value on each-way bets with a strong chance of placing.
