About the Glorious Stakes
The Glorious Stakes was originally run as the Alycidon Stakes, and was first run in 1979. Originally a Conditions race it was given Listed status in 1985 before being renamed in 1989, and then promoted to Group 3 status in 2008. Despite its Group 3 status the Glorious Stakes attracts some high quality middle distance racehorses. In 2022 the race was won by multiple Group 1 winner, Rebel’s Romance, who would win the Breeders’ Cup Turf later the same season.
