About the Golden Mile Handicap
The Golden Mile Handicap is one of the richest flat handicap races in Europe. The race was run for the first time in 1988, when it was won by Waajib. Waajib would go on to win the Group 2 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot the next season, starting a trend which has seen a number of Golden Mile Handicap winners go on to achieve victories in European pattern races.
Gold Mile Handicap Betting
While Golden Mile can attract the top tier of handicap racehorse talent in Europe, the handicappers have generally done a good job of levelling the field. Price should not guide your betting decisions in this race, and instead look out for horses with a proven track record in 1 mile handicaps who’ll be comfortable under their race weight. Also bear in mind that experience counts in this race, and older racehorses routinely come out on top.
