About the Gordon Stakes
The Gordon Stakes has been run since 1902 and is named after the Duke of Gordon, one of the titles help by the Goodwood Racecourse’s owner, the Duke of Richmond. The race has been contested by 3-year-old colts and fillies since 1903. During its history the Gordon Stakes has often been used as a trial race for the St. Leger Stakes, with several horses going on to win both races.
Gordon Stakes Betting
In recent years the betting markets have reliably picked out the race winner, with several victories for antepost favourites. The race rarely rewards outsiders with a win, and the winner will routinely be priced 4/1 or lower. As such, backing the favourite is a decent strategy for this race, unless one of his primary short-odds rivals looks to have a better claim to success.
