About the Stewards Cup
The Steward’s Cup dates back to the early 1800s, when the steward of Goodwood would present a cup to the winner of any race he considered notable for that year. This tradition was formalized in 1840 when a race was introduced specifically to contest the cup offered by the steward. The race is considered one of the most prestigious handicap sprints in the UK.
Stewards Cup Betting
You won’t find many races tougher to call than this sprint handicap. Winners of the race routinely come home priced over 20/1. As such this is a good race to look for value amongst higher odds entries, looking for horses who have prior wins over 6 furlongs and while carrying the handicap they’ll have onboard in the Steward’s Cup.
