Originally known as the Night Rider Handicap, the Epsom Dash is a heritage handicap that serves as the handicap highlight of the annual Derby Festival. Run over a distance of 5 furlongs, this sprint is open to horse aged three or older. The race earned its billing as a ‘dash’ thanks to the downhill finish of the 5 furlong course at Epsom, which is considered the fastest in the world.
Betting on the Epsom Dash Handicap
While it boasts a somewhat longer history than the other handicaps at the Derby Festival, the Epsom Dash is made of the same stuff. You can look for each-way value amongst higher priced entries as horses priced 25/1 and higher routinely win the race.
