About the Epsom Oaks
The Epsom Oaks Stakes, often simply referred to as “The Oaks,” is one of the most prestigious horse races in the United Kingdom. Held annually in late May or early June at Epsom Downs Racecourse, it is a Group 1 flat race open exclusively to three-year-old fillies. The race is a key event in the British Classic Races.
Established in 1779 by Edward Smith-Stanley, the 12th Earl of Derby, The Oaks has a rich history and has become a highlight of the British racing calendar. It forms part of the Triple Crown for fillies, along with the 1,000 Guineas and the St Leger.
The race is renowned for its challenging course, which includes the infamous Tattenham Corner, testing both the speed and stamina of its participants. Winning The Oaks is a significant achievement, often cementing a filly’s place in racing history.
Betting on the Epsom Oaks
