About the Jersey Stakes

The Jersey Stakes is the signature 7 furlong race for juveniles at the Royal Ascot meeting. Horses competing in this Group 3 race often take the step up to Group 1 or 2 mile races the following season, and a number of Jersey Stakes winners have gone on to claim wins in Group 1 races over a mile later in their careers.

Betting on the Jersey Stakes

The usual challenges that apply to betting on mid-season juvenile races apply to the Jersey Stakes. Entries have thin or non-existent form records and horses of apparently modest abilities can improve considerably over a single race. However, this race does tend to produce fairly solid antepost favourites, and wins by the favourite are routine. Furthermore all the places are typically occupied by horses priced under 10/1. So favourites priced over 4/1 are always a good option for an each-way punt and otherwise focus on horses priced 10/1 or lower for place options.
