Ante-post betting

  • ante-post bet ~

An antepost bet is a bet made before the day on which an event is held.

Ante-post betting is available for a wide range of fixed-odds betting markets, for many different sports. It’s an especially popular form of horse racing and football betting.

The advantage of an ante-post bet is that odds may be more favourable ahead of an event. The disadvantage is that if the selection you back doesn’t take part in the event, your bet typically loses.

No-runner no-bet specials

Bookmakers often insure ante-post horseracing bets in the weeks prior to an event through “no-runner no-bet” specials. With this type of special, your stake will be refunded if a selection you’ve backed fails to compete in the relevant event.
