The Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle is run on the first day of the Aintree Grand National Festival and is open to horses aged four years. The race is for novice hurdlers and there are nine hurdles to be jumped.
2024 Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle
The Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile has produced two entries who will start the race trading at under 2/1 in Sir Gino and Kargese.
The unbeaten Sir Gino won a Grade 2 Triumph Hurdle trial race at Cheltenham in January, winning by 10 lengths. Kargese, meanwhile, finished second in the Triumph Hurdle last month and was a Grade 1 winner in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle in January.
Further back in the field Kalif Du Berlais is the first entry to offer value on each-way bets. He’s unbeaten over hurdles and won a Grade 2 hurdles race over 2 miles last time out.

About the Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle
Held annually on the first day of the Grand National meeting, the Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle is a showcase for some of the most talented 4-year-old novice hurdlers in the sport.
Originally named the Lancashire Hurdle during the 1960s and early 1970s, the race has undergone several name changes due to various sponsorships. It was once classified as a Grade 2 event before being upgraded to Grade 1 status in 2005.
Competitors in the Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle often include horses that have previously participated in the Triumph Hurdle. The most recent horse to achieve victory in both events was Pentland Hills in 2019.
