About the Manifesto Novices Chase
Named in honor of Manifesto, a legendary horse that competed in the Grand National a record eight times from 1895 to 1904, the Manifesto Novices’ Chase celebrates this remarkable steed’s achievements. Manifesto secured two victories, landed in third place three times, and achieved a fourth-place finish once during his illustrious career. His success played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Grand National’s reputation, which had suffered due to prior corruption.
Initiated in 2009, the Manifesto Novices’ Chase was initially a Grade 2 event that showcases horses previously competing in the Arkle Challenge Trophy and the JLT Novices’ Chase. The race was elevated to Grade 1 status in 2012, marking its significance in the racing calendar.
