The Mersey Novices Hurdle is a National Hunt race with eleven hurdles to be jumped which is open to horses aged four years or older. The race is run on the final day of the Aintree Grand National Festival.

About the Mersey Novices Hurdle
In 1988, the distance of the Mersey Novices Hurdle was reduced by a furlong to its current length. Since the 2014 edition, the British Horseracing Authority has classified the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle as a Grade One race. It frequently includes horses that previously competed in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.
