The Mildmay Novices’ Chase is a National Hunt chase over 19 fences for horses aged five years or older. The race is run on the Mildmay Course on the second day of the Aintree Grand National Festival.
2024 Mildmay Novices Chase Preview
The 2024 Mildmay Novices Chase has drawn a small field with four entries priced over the 5/1 marggin.
The race favourite is Inothewayurthinkin, winner in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup at Cheltenham last month, who looks a solid stayer but is nevertheless underpriced.
Next in the betting is Iroko, who finished 5th in the Grade 1 Turners Novices Chase at Cheltenham in March. He finished 3rd in the Sefton Novices Hurdle at Aintree last season.
Priced at over 10/1, Broadway Boy is an interesting selection. Offering better value than the other entries, he has won three times over distances over 3 miles this season.

Launched in 1981, the Mildmay Novices Chase quickly became notable as its inaugural winners, Bregawn and Burrough Hill Lad, each subsequently clinched the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The race received an upgrade to Grade One in 2014.
Typically, the Mildmay Novices’ Chase includes horses that have previously competed in the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
