Handstands leads the betting for the small field which has assembled for the 2025 Mildmay Novices Chase. Unbeaten in 3 races which include a Grade 1 and two Grade 2s, he’s a deserved favourite at near Evens.
Dancing City is the horse priced second in the market. While he doesn’t offer huge value at 11/4, he is the horse most likely to beat the favourite given his past performance over 3 miles. Launched in 1981, the Mildmay Novices Chase quickly became notable as its inaugural winners, Bregawn and Burrough Hill Lad, each subsequently clinched the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The race received an upgrade to Grade One in 2014.
Typically, the Mildmay Novices’ Chase includes horses that have previously competed in the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
