About the Norfolk Stakes

The Norfolk Stakes is the highest rated open sprint for Juveniles at Royal Ascot. Run over a distance of 5 furlongs, the Group 2 race is open to colts and fillies. The race has the best quality juvenile field at Royal Ascot, and winners have frequently gone on to more illustrious achievements as three year olds. Several have had subsequent success in France’s Group 1 Prix Morny.

Betting on the Norfolk Stakes

The Norfolk Stakes poses the same challenges as any juvenile race with an inexperienced field, thin form data to work off and a number of high quality but inconsistent horses in the field. Wins by the antepost favourite are rare but the majority of horses in the places over recent years have been priced 20/1 or lower. So horses with recent form and ratings are worth getting behind, but don’t fall for market hype and throw your weight behind the favourite unless you have good cause to.
