About the Commonwealth Cup
The Commonwealth Cup is a Group 1 sprint run over 6 furlongs, open to 3-year-old colts and geldings. The race is the only one at Royal Ascot which is open to gelding entries, and is the first age-restricted Group 1 race in Europe to be opened to geldings. Older racehorses compete in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, run over the same course and distance.
Betting on the Commonwealth Cup
Favourites have excelled in the Commonwealth Cup in the race’s short history. Despite the sprint distance this is a race where genuine class is rewarded, and top rated racehorses have dominated since its inception. Based on results so far, you’ll be best served putting your money behind the horse with the highest rating in the field.
